1. How has Rec & Park been impacted by COVID 19 Coronavirus?

Effective March 31, 2020, Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District (Rec & Park) offices, buildings and nonessential services are closed until further notice. Some facilities will open in a limited capacity for PHRec CARES, our child-care based summer programs for preschool, youth & teens. 2. What Rec & Park "essential" services will remain operational?

The following "essential" services will remain operational: 

• Basic park, building and pool maintenance
• Park trash collection
• Board Meetings via conference call until further notice. View Board meeting agenda for more information. 
• Payroll and warrants
• Senior CC Cafe meals (limited)
• PHRec Cares Academy childcare-based programs 

3. What facilities, buildings and offices are closed?

The following buildings, facilities, and offices are closed to the public until further notice:

4. What Rec & Park classes/programs have been suspended?

The following programs, classes and activities will not be held until further notice. If a program or class cannot be rescheduled, a member of our staff will contact your directly and provide a refund where applicable.

5. Will I get a refund for classes/programs that cannot be rescheduled for make-up?

Yes. All participants enrolled in a cancelled class/program will automatically be refunded the full fee back to your account for future use. You also have the option to request that the refund go directly back to the credit card on file upon request. Please email Susie Kubota here. 

6. What Rec & Park events canceled?

Due to Contra Costa Health Services restrictions in place, the following Rec & Park Events have been unfortunately impacted (sniff sniff):

7. Are you accepting rental reservations?

Currently, we are accepting rental applications and will be allowing events in accordance with the guidelines and parameters under the Contra Costa Health Department (CCHS) public health orders. For more information on the latest CCHS updates, visit https://www.coronavirus.cchealth.org/health-services-updates. If an event is booked and not able to move forward due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will refund any monies paid.

8. What happens if I have an event scheduled at one of your venues and I have to cancel due to COVID-19?

At this time, we are allowing any event to cancel or change their date without penalty.

9. Are parks and open space areas open?

Yes, parks and open spaces are open (with restrictions) according to the latest Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) orders. 

PARK & OPEN SPACE UPDATES (as of 12/4/20):

GREENLIGHT:

• NEW! Effective December 9, 2020, all outdoor park playground structures REOPENED for play! 

  On December 9, 2020, the State of California updated its stay-at-home guidelines to allow playgrounds to stay open as essential.

  "Playgrounds may remain open to facilitate physically distanced personal health and wellness through outdoor exercise," said CDPH Deputy Director of Communications Ali Bay.

  Please keep our parks open by practicing the following caring measures:

  • IMPORTANT! MASKS REQUIRED for everyone over 2 years old when on and around park play structures!
  • Keep 6 ft apart!
  • No food or drinks on the playground
  • Wash Hands
  • Avoid crowding on play structures
  • Stay home if sick (or higher risk)
  • Share the space (limit visit to 30 minutes

• Sports fields, in-fields, dugouts, basketball courts, and bocce courts open to one household or living unit. No mixing of households and no food or beverages
• Park bathrooms are open during the day but will close in the evening

RED LIGHT:

• Drinking fountains remain shut off
• No group recreational sports for adults or children
• Pleasant Hill Aquatic Park is closed for the winter.

REMINDERS:

• Please wear a face covering when out in public spaces. Read face-covering related CCHS Health Order (7/7/20) here
• Dogs must be on a leash at all times in parks and on open space trails
  If you see an uncooperative dog or dog owner, please report incidents to CC County Animal Service at (925) 608-8400
• Please maintain six-foot social distancing from each other and everyone over the age of 2, wear face coverings.

Enforcement: 
Please be kind to our park staff who are out reminding park visitors about COVID-19 safety practices and park rules per the mandated public health orders. They care about you.

If residents do not comply with the above-mentioned restrictions, parks will be closed for public access and if appropriate, the Pleasant Hill Police Department will be contacted to enforce violations of the CCHS order. Failure to comply with the requirements is a misdemeanor punishable by fine, imprisonment, or both. Violation of the Order constitutes a public nuisance and a violation of the County Ordinance Code.

10. Is the Pleasant Hill Aquatic Park (pool) open?

Pleasant Hill Aquatic Park re-open status is pending further evaluation of new Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) orders. 

As of June 5, 2020, Contra Costa County has allowed pools to open with very tight restrictions and capacity limitations. Our Aquatics staff is in the process of evaluating to what extent we can open under these new guidelines. Our Aquatics Manager is working closely with colleagues in Contra Costa County and across the State to develop protocols to meet all the County’s health and safety requirements and standards. This includes EMS-approved protocols to ensure the safety of our lifeguarding staff in the event of an in-water rescue or other emergency care. The safety of our participants and our staff is a top priority.

11. Are seniors still able to get meals from CC Cafe?

Yes. The Senior CC Cafe program at the Pleasant Hill Senior Center will continue to provide meals "to go" for adults over 60 years old on a limited basis until further notice. The dining room at the Pleasant Hill Senior Center will be closed. 

To-Go meals packs include 5 frozen meals + fruit (milk and bread every other week) are available for pick up at the Senior Center on Wednesdays from 11:00-11:30 pm. Effective November 1, hours will change to 10:30 -11:00 am. Note: Meal pick up on Wednesday, November 11 will be moved to Thursday, November 12 in observance of Veterans Day. There is a $15 suggested donation for meals. Reservations need to be placed by Tuesday at noon. For people picking up meals, please wear a mask and allow a 6-foot distance between you and next person at all times. If you are unable to pick up, please email us with as much advance notice as possible so we can make delivery arrangements for you if possible.
