- 70th Anniversary Celebration
On January 19th, the Rec & Park District turned 70 years old and we have lots of plans in the works to celebrate this exciting anniversary milestone all year long! Watch for fun virtual and in-person (when allowed) commemorative activities for the whole family!
Check back for more activity details! All ages welcome to participate!
Established on January 19, 1951, Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District was formed by the citizens who valued parks and recreational opportunities for all people in their community. Rec & Park became a special district, a unique government entity, separate from the City of Pleasant Hill and other organizations, and has grown to become a cornerstone of what makes Pleasant Hill such a great place to live. Today, Rec & Park provides and manages extensive District-owned parks, community facilities, open space, and recreation programs and events throughout the community. The support of the community and the countless volunteers over the years has been tremendous and paramount to many of Rec & Park efforts to improve, build and make life better for everyone.
Our Vision: To be the leaders in providing WOW! experiences every day.
Tune in to our second mini-podcast series coming soon called “Volunteers Making A Difference”, featuring an interview with super-star volunteers from our Senior Center who have dedicated their time and talents to help make a tremendous difference for not only the District but to so many others as well. This podcast will include 2 upcoming episodes and is just a small representation of all the amazing people who have volunteered for us, past and present.
In March 2021, Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District continues our year-long 70th-anniversary celebration with a new mini-podcast series called “Trailblazing Women in District History.” This podcast will feature an interview with a past or current female Rec & Park employee who has been a trailblazer for other women in the industry and who have made a big impact in the District’s history. This podcast also ties in with our celebration of National Women’s History Month, a month-long celebration to acknowledge women’s contributions to history, culture, and society.
